La Grua Center

When Water Street’s old industrial plant was renovated as condominiums after a devastating fire in 2003, part of the mixed use plan was to use the former foundry building as a community gathering space.

Over the last year, the Board of the La Grua Foundation has been brainstorming uses for a 125 person capacity public space in the heart of Stonington Borough.  The Foundation wants to offer a space that is both public and versatile; a space open to all ages; to be used for entertainment, the arts, education, celebrations, and activities to bring people together.

La Grua Center is an ideal space for lectures, exhibits, classes of all sorts, music, picnics, dances, movies, and community discussions.  The Center will host an array of events that will welcome area residents, as well as visitors from near and far, this opening season and for years to come.
